Coreopsis

The Coreopsis selections we sell prefer full sun where they produce hundreds of bright yellow flowers...some in summer and others in fall. It is a tough, low maintenance plant which makes it perfect for rain gardens. Every few years, coreopsis appreciates being divided to keep the clump from becoming overcrowded. The fine textured foliage of Coreopsis pairs very well with coarser textured plants such as agapanthus, agave, or monarda. Coreopsis looks best planted in containers, in large groups, or woven among other perennials in a cottage garden. Coreopsis flowers also attract butterflies and make great cut flowers. We soon realized we had a gem, which was confirmed a mere 15 years later in the 2016 Mt. Cuba coreopsis trial, where Coreopsis 'Summer Sunshine' blew away the competition, taking the top honor. Native to swampy forested sites from NC to Florida, Coreopsis palustris 'Summer Sunshine' makes a great landscape specimen, with its slowly spreading habit similar to its faster spreading cousin, Coreopsis integrifolia. The shiny, uncut, dark green foliage adorns 30" tall clumps. From September to November, Coreopsis palustris is topped with a stunning show of yellow-orange daisies...perfect for an overly moist site in your garden, although it has performed beautifully for us in regular garden soil in full sun.

Watch our Plant Spotlight video for more information.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1527/8799/files/Coreopsis-palustris-Summer-Sunshine.i-3802.s-68696.r-1_9ae1e228-e011-4023-9310-3742b35e3336.jpg?v=1790370732
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1527/8799/collections/Coreopsis-palustris-Summer-Sunshine-1900x350.jpg?v=1682975763
