These can be cut to the ground when they are done blooming and start to get shabby, leaving the new foliage produced from the crown of the plant. It often will rebloom later in the summer. Propagation of cultivars is best by division or root cuttings. Plants can go for many years without being divided. They just keep on going. The typical flower color is close to magenta and gives rise to its common name of Bloody Cranesbill; Cranesbill from the shape of the fruit. Some cultivars offer other colors:'Album' is white, 'Striatum' a soft pink, 'Glenluce is lavender.
