For decades, we've searched for a clone that would tolerate our cold winters and wet summers, and we've finally found success with this selection from Uvalde County, Texas. Our five year-old plants of this stunning small evergreen shrub are now 5' tall x 3' wide. The dense stems are clothed in small silver leaves. After summer rains, the branches burst forth with a brilliant show of lavender flowers. Leucophyllums are dryland natives, so a very well-drained soil is critical. Although they prefer alkaline soils, our plants have fared well in our amended loam at a pH of 6.2.

Watch our Plant Spotlight video for more information.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1527/8799/files/Leucophyllum-frutescens-Silver-Spirit.i-18384.s-68323.r-1_4cbe602a-4a0f-4ca5-96e7-9a7a48f7b827.jpg?v=1791921580
